If you ordered something over the internet, and paid with Paypal, would you get your money back? (See details)

I got a letter from the customs and excise. They detained the dvds I ordered and paid for by paypal, on the grounds of them being suspected counterfeit. The customs told me they would get back to me within 30 days.

So what are my options should the dvds be counterfeit? I didn't want counterfeit dvds, otherwise I wouldn't have ordered them.

Would I be able to get my money back? How?

Thanks,

Your first step should be to contact the seller and request a full refund including p%26amp;p.

If theis is not forthcoming, then contact Paypal. They will then reinberse you and collect the money from the seller.
Reply:I agree with the previous answers: put in a claim right now, and complete it as soon as possible. The quicker you react, the more chance you have of getting your money back.

Paypal buyer protection will only cover you up to a point, and it is this: Even if paypal find in your favour, if the vendor has closed their paypal account, or no longer has any funds in that account, you won't get anything back.

Unlike credit card companies, who will refund you even if the vendor has dissapeared off the face of the earth, Paypal will NEVER refund you out of their own coffers.

Don't think that the "buyer protection" logo actually has any worth if you are faced with a dishonest vendor planning to take the money and run.
Reply:Yes if they are counterfeit and the seller doesn't give you a refund you just file a dispute with paypal and then escalate it to a claim. If the seller doesn't respond to the claim within 10 days you get a refund automatically. Hopefully you will get something from customs as proof that they were counterfeit as paypal might ask for it.
Reply:Yep. Paypal is good about that. I actually purchased a DVD set from someone on Ebay a long whiles back and he lied about the quality of his merchandise. I would have let it go, but he was being an azz and taunted me to even try to get my money back. I filed an online complaint with Paypal and I got my money back within 2 weeks after they ran their investigation. Paypal protects you in that dept.
Reply:if they are counterfit, contact the seller and tell them you want a refund for shipping and DVDs, if not contact paypal, cannot say if you will get refund
