To use money that's currently in your bank account to make purchases on the internet you can set up an account with PayPal to debit (take money out of) your bank account or charge your credit card to send a payment to an address (by check) or to an account (by transfer).
Most online merchants allow you to pay by credit or debit card. To pay them you supply your credit card information and approve the purchase. the vendor then charges your credit/debit card and ships (or allows you to download) your product.
Most banks provide online banking. That is you can view your banking activity and statements, you can arrange to have money sent to someone by check or transfer, and (at a few banks so far) you can actually deposit checks by sending an image of the check to the bank. The image would come form scanning or possibly from a digital picture.
(You can't print money online(yet) but you can print postage.)
