In a foreign country many outlets do not accept credit cards except those reputed such as Visa, Mastercard ect.

You should have ensured from your Bank or the Credit card agency before leaving abroad whether the existing credit card will be of Usage in the country of your visit.

For such visits abroad you should posses Debit Card whereby your account is directly debited.

If you are in acute financial crisis, visit a mulitnational Bank and request them to accomodate subject to verifications by them from your existing bankers or the credit card agency from whom you had the card. Such a procdeur will be costly if you have no other choice.

If you can contact your existing Bankers request them to send the required funds from your account by "Swift Transfer" and you will have the same within 48 hrs. Give your perfect address with phone nos. and pincode details of your stay abroad.
Reply:With all the international internet scams and fraud lately, banks may get suspicious about charges made outside of your normal use area, and may put a hold on the account until they can talk to you. It may have even been to protect you if some merchant you did business with tried to put through extra or unauthorized charges.

If you were going to be travelling, it would have been a good idea to advise your bank ahead of time, so they would know that it is you and that you are keeping an eye on your account.

Sometimes it is not even that your bank is proventing charges, but might just be requesting picture ID. I had that happen within the states of the USA. A major store refused 2 of my credit cards, even though I had used one the night before in a different store, and the other that day to change my return flight online. All the CC company had done was request picture ID, but the merchant chose to reject it (even though they always check picture ID in that state anyway).
Reply:When my daughter left the country, she notified her bank where she was going to be traveling and the bank customer service person flagged her account to show that transactions from those countries are not fraud.
Reply:Please elaborate
